One person is dead after a house was completely destroyed by a fire that broke out Sunday afternoon in the North End.
The blaze started around 2 p.m. at a home on Polson Avenue between Airlies Street and Sinclair Street.
Fire officials said they received a report of an explosion and the home was engulfed in flames when they arrived.
The house was nearly burnt to the ground before crews were able to put it out.

“I heard a big bang,” he said. “I thought it was a car hitting my house. I ran out, there was no car hitting my house and I saw my neighbour running and I ran after him, and there was a blaze of fire. I’ve never seen anything like that, only in the movies you see that.”
