Meth found after stolen scooter bust in Winnipeg

A Winnipeg man is facing charges after police busted him with 14 grams of methamphetamine on a stolen scooter.

Patrol officers pulled over the vehicle on Wednesday after observing it speeding through an area near Selkirk Ave.

Officers ran a check on the scooter’s licence plate, which showed the vehicle belonged to a utility trailer. The scooter’s ignition was also damaged.

After placing 43-year-old William Markowski under arrest, police discovered the meth, which has an approximate street value of $1,750, and $325 cash on the scooter.

They believe it was stolen between June 26 and June 27 from a residence in the Riverview neighbourhood.

Markowski is now facing three charges, including possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

He was detained in custody.
