The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says the victim in a fight at a McDonald’s in the 12900-block of 96th Avenue in Surrey has died.

IHIT has identified the victim as 48-year-old Lakhwinder Singh Bal of Surrey.

He was rushed to hospital at 9 p.m. Sunday after officers found him collapsed on the ground.

IHIT said Bal was known to police and that his murder was not a random act.

As RCMP continued to investigate, 96th Avenue between 128th and 130th Street was shut down overnight.

If you saw anyone fleeing the area during the approximate time of the assault, you’re asked to call Surrey RCMP or Crimestoppers.
