A man’s death in Mechanicsville early on Monday morning is being investigated as a homicide, the Ottawa Police Service says.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Carruthers Avenue, west of downtown Ottawa, just before 3:45 a.m.

A man’s body was found at the scene, Ottawa police confirmed on Monday afternoon. Investigators believe the victim was in his early 20s.

The force’s major crimes unit is investigating the death.

A police spokesperson said Carruthers Avenue remains closed to traffic between Scott Street and Lyndale Avenue.
