A 19-year-old Hamilton man is facing charges, after he was allegedly caught in the act, trying to steal a vehicle in Burlington.

Halton police say they were called just before 7a.m. Monday to a home on Headon Road, where the homeowner reportedly saw an unknown man attempting to steal his 2016 Subaru from his driveway.

The homeowner confronted the man, who took off on foot.

According to police, the k-9 unit was called in and located the suspect, who was hiding in a storage shed at the rear of a nearby home.

Michael Allen is now facing charges including theft of a motor vehicle and failing to comply with probation.
