Hamilton police say they found four people in possession of drug paraphernalia Wednesday night at a home near Wellington Street North and Evans Street that they say is “known for drug activity”.
Officers say they received permission from the landlord to enter the home.
Police say the individuals said they were waiting for their drug dealer. Officers say they detained a man walking “suspiciously through the immediate area.” After searching him, police say they confiscated several illegal drugs, including cocaine and purple heroin, as well as two cell phones and cash.

The 19-year-old man was charged with four counts of possession (cocaine, codeine, purple heroin, proceeds of crime under $5,000) and will appear Thursday at John Sopinka Courthouse.
Purple heroin is a highly toxic, synthetic laced drug consisting of heroin, morphine, fentanyl and carfentanil. The City of Hamilton issued an alert earlier this month to warn the public after multiple overdoses.
