The cause of a fire Thursday night at the Linamar Gear facility is under investigation.
At around 11 p.m., five units of the Guelph Fire Department (GFD) responded to a reported fire at 32 Independence Place.
Officials say the blaze was quickly brought under control and extinguished.
Upon arrival, the GFD was told by staff on duty that they tried to put out the fire with dry chemical extinguishers. Guelph firefighters also tried to use dry chemical extinguisher but were unsuccessful. A foam line was then used to put out the fire and cool the heat-treating furnace.
