The City of Burlington will not be voicing any objections to an application for a retail cannabis store on Fairview Street.
Mayor Marianne Meed Ward says the location is “appropriate” since it is more than 150 metres from any schools, parks, pools, arenas, libraries or recreation centres.
She notes it is also along transit routes and near the QEW/Hwy. 403 interchange.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario is accepting written comments about the proposed location from Burlington residents until March 6th.

To date, the AGCO has announced 14 proposed locations for cannabis stores in Ontario. Other proposed locations are in Ajax, Brampton, Kingston, London, Oshawa, Ottawa, St. Catharines, Sudbury, and Toronto.
It is expected that brick and mortar, privately operated retail cannabis stores will be operational across the province by April 1, 2019.
