Meth, fentanyl, weapons sized after 6-month Edmonton drug investigation

Three people have been charged with more than 30 drug-related offences after a six-month investigation by Edmonton police.

At the end of February, police searched three separate properties in Edmonton, which led to the seizure of three firearms, several replica handguns, ammunition, $3,300 in cash, more than 26 grams of methamphetamine and nearly eight grams of fentanyl. Police said one of the weapons was stolen.

“We’re pleased that our team was able to make these arrests and remove firearms, ammunition and a quantity of drugs from our community last week,” Sgt. Daniel Tames with the Edmonton Police Service said in a media release.

Kenneth Saunders, 35, was arrested on Feb. 26. He faces 18 charges, including trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of proceeds of crime and 13 firearms-related offences.

Corey Landry, 30, was arrested on Feb. 14, and faces 10 charges, including two counts of trafficking, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and multiple breaches.

Monique Gardner, 40, was arrested on Feb. 14 and charged with trafficking and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
