Well, this is making the rounds in Ottawa today.
With good reason.
In a Sunday interview with Radio-Canada, Veterans Affairs Minister Steven Blaney made an interesting comparison at a ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic.
With the helpful translation of my Global National colleague Mike Le Couteur, this is what Blaney had to say about teaching the younger generation about the importance of sacrifice.
“You talk about Gangnam Style, there would be no Gangnam Style if not for the sacrifice of Canadians and the members of the United Nations which came with a resolution which helped to battle communism.”

Blaney’s spokesman, Jean-Christophe de Le Rue, sent out a statement Monday that somewhat clarifies things.
“Thanks to the sacrifices of Canadian Veterans, South Korea is now economically strong and democratic. Clearly, it is also a cultural superpower.”
