Both men are from Hobbema and were acquaintances, according to RCMP.
Hobbema RCMP, along with numerous specialized units, were involved in what officers called an intensive investigation. Officers say they also received a tremendous amount of assistance from the public.
“That we were able to solve this case so quickly is a direct result of the community’s willingness to work alongside the RCMP,” said Inspector Charles Wood, officer in charge of the Hobbema RCMP Detachment.
Soosay remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on Tuesday, May 14.
