TORONTO — Matthew Perry was a good sport at last Friday’s L.A. Kings game when a reporter congratulated him on the cancellation of his show, Go On.
Dan Moriarty of Fox Sports started the awkward exchange with: “Big news today, and congratulations are in order.”
Perry replied: “Oh, thank you. You’re talking about my show getting cancelled?”
Moriarty smiled and nodded, prompting Perry to comment: “It was a sort of sad day because of the people and I’m going to miss them.”
Then, Perry deadpanned: “But this show I was doing was getting in the way of Kings games.”

Seemingly still oblivious that Perry had learned of his show’s cancellation only hours earlier, Moriarty said: “So it’s a double-edged sword… congratulations.”
Perry said a polite “thank you” and then let out a laugh.
The interview aired live during a break in Game 6 of the Kings vs. Blues game.

Perry, who was raised in Ottawa, is a diehard Kings fans but still cheers for his former hometown team.
On May 7, he tweeted: “Nice win Sens! Looking Good!” When a Montreal Canadiens fan complained about the referees, Perry shot back: “It’s funny how only the losing team seems to complain about the refs.”
