CALGARY – Grab your umbrella and get ready, there’s heavy rainfall in the forecast.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement cautioning there will be heavy rain throughout southwestern Alberta over the next few days.
Rain will begin to fall on Wednesday and won’t taper off until early Saturday morning.

The statement includes Calgary, Okotoks, High River, Claresholm, Aidrie, Cochrane, Olds, Sundre, Banff, Kananaskis and Canmore.
Meteorologist Jordan Witzel says he anticipates between 25 and 50 mm of precipitation in Calgary between Wednesday evening and Saturday morning.
“We’re always on the edge of that rain, always getting some rain on and off through the next couple of days… but we’ll never get the heaviest rain,” says Witzel.
Outside of Calgary, anywhere from 60 to 90 mm of rain is expected, with some areas potentially drenched with more than 100 mm.
Higher elevations may also see some snow.
