Weapons investigation draws significant police presence to east London apartment complex

London Police say an early morning incident at an east end apartment complex has ended.

The quiet apartment complex was abuzz with activity early Friday morning after police were called to the area on Gore Rd. near Montebello Dr. around 5 a.m. for a weapons investigation.

Cst. Sandasha Bough told 980 CFPL News they received a report that someone might have been in possession of a weapon.

A number of police cruisers were spotted in the area, and armed officers were seen entering the complex.

Bough said officers searched the area and shut down the road in the interest of public safety.

The search didn’t turn up any weapons.

The situation ended around 7:30 a.m., there were no injures reported and no one was arrested.

Ethan Bilodeau lives in the complex, and tells 980 CFPL that the area is frequented by police.

“Last year someone got stabbed in the middle apartment, so I’ve see police cars here before, there’s a lot of drugs at this apartment complex too, but it’s the first time I’ve seen them in the armoured gear.”

Few details have been released about the nature of the current investigation.

Police are expected to remain on scene for an extended part of the day while they investigate.
