Toronto police say homicide detectives are investigating after the body of a man was found inside a 15th-floor apartment in Scarborough on Sunday night.
Police said officers were called to Kennedy Road and Antrim Court, just south of Highway 401, at 11:06 p.m.
Det. Robert Choe told reporters on Monday morning that “a lifeless body of a man in his 50s was pronounced deceased on scene.”
Investigators said they believe the man is a resident of the apartment building and that officers are treating the death as a murder based on evidence from the scene.

“There was a 9-1-1 call placed by one of the witnesses, that’s what we arrived here for, and upon further investigation we determined it was a homicide-related event,” Choe said.
Neither the circumstances surrounding the death nor the victim’s identity have been released.
Choe said they do not have a suspect in custody and have not yet released a suspect description.
“If there are any witnesses that would like to speak to us, give us some context as to what may have transpired, any sort of background we would be interested in hearing from them,” Choe said.
