Police are investigating whether alcohol may have been a factor in a hit-and-run collision in Calgary on Monday evening that killed a motorcyclist.
Emergency crews were called to Peigan Trail and 36 Street Southeast at about 8:30 p.m.
According to police, the driver of an eastbound SUV hit the front corner of a westbound motorcycle while attempting to turn onto northbound 36 Street Southeast.
The Calgary Police Service said the driver of the motorcycle, a man in his early 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a news release, CPS stated the driver of the SUV left the scene but was apprehended a short time later.

Investigators said a red SUV with front-end damage was discovered in the community of Erin Woods and that charges are pending.
Officers closed the intersection for several hours while they investigated the collision.
