A snowfall warning is in effect for Highway 97 Pine Pass and the B.C. Peace River, Fort Nelson and Williston regions.
Residents are being warned a prolonged period of heavy snow will occur between Friday and Saturday night where some areas could see up to 40 cm of snow. Travel is not advised.
Snow will begin on Friday as a Pacific front moves through the region, and will become heavy overnight Friday into Saturday as arctic front stalls over the area.

“Snow will accumulate very quickly in some regions making driving very difficult.” said Global BC senior meteorologist Kristi Gordon. “Plus, the arctic front will likely created gusty winds. This will reduce the visibility on roads significantly Friday night through Saturday.”

A rainfall warning remains in effect for the Stewart region with up to 90 millimetres expected by Saturday afternoon.
