Woman dies after Hochelaga-Maisonneuve garage fire

Police say an investigation into the blaze has been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad. TVA

A woman has died after a fire broke out in a garage in Montreal’s Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighbourhood early Thursday morning.

Montreal police spokesperson Raphaël Bergeron said firefighters found the unconscious woman inside the burning structure around 6:15 a.m. on Bourbonnière Avenue near Adam Street.

Her death was pronounced by Urgences-santé shortly after she was pulled from the fire, according to police.

Bergeron said the woman is between 25 and 30 years of age. Police could not provide more details.

The fire has since been extinguished, and police say an investigation into the blaze has been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad.
