CALGARY – Albertans have 43 chances to win at the Western Canadian Music Awards.

Nominations for in for the 2013 show that will take place October 6th in Calgary as part of the BreakOut West weekend.

Albertans received a total of 26 artist award nominations and 17 for industry awards.

Three of four artists nominated for the Country Recording of the year are Albertan, including Gord Bamford for his hit Is It Friday Yet?

Regina composer, Jason Cullimore, leads with three nominations for classical composition, classical recording, and instrumental recording of the year. The Sheepdogs, also from Saskatchewan, are up for rock recording and songwriters of the year.

Award genres include aboriginal, blues, country, classical, jazz, rock and pop.

The final jury and membership voting will begin soon with members of six western music industry associations eligible to vote.
