Police now say senior killed in Newdale, Man. house fire

Wasagaming RCMP are investigating a fatal house fire in Newdale, Man. Global News

Police now say it was an elderly man who died when a house in Newdale, Man. went up in flames last week.

Emergency crews were called to the fire at the home in the community, roughly 224 km northwest of Winnipeg, around 5:40 a.m. Friday.

Police originally said one person was found dead in the home, but were waiting for an autopsy to confirm their identity.

No other injuries were reported.

On Wednesday police said the victim has been identified as a 74-year-old man.

Wasagaming RCMP say the fire does not appear to be suspicious, but the exact cause has yet to be determined.
