Peel Regional Police say an “alligator” that was seen in Brampton on Friday was actually a beaver.
A police spokesperson told Global News officers were called to the area of Creditview Road and Bovaird Drive West, near Mississauga Road, at around 8:30 p.m.
The spokesperson said a caller reported that an alligator, described as being five-to-six feet long, was seen on rocks by a drainage pond.
There were reportedly people taking photos of the animal.

Officers and animal services personnel were investigating the report.
In an update posted on Twitter shortly before 2 a.m., police said that based on video from social media, it was determined that the animal was a beaver.
“Just to be clear, animal services has attended and also reviewed the video on social media,” police added.
“The animal … observed was determined to be a beaver.”
