Two Regina-based organizations which offer services to children and youth in care will receive government funding.
YWCA of Regina will get $57,400 to help replace the roof and fence. The furnace of KITS home, which has 10 emergency beds available for children up to aged 12, will also be replaced.
Street Culture Kidz will receive $50,000 as a down payment on a new peer group home for girls aged 12 to 18. The organization will also get more than $175,000 of annual funding for the operation of the new home.
Kim Sutherland, the CEO of Street Culture Kidz says they are pleased to get government funding to help with their new initiative.
“We are extremely excited to provide this service,” Sutherland said, “knowing that with the provincial government’s support, a long-term community development plan will positively affect the lives of many young people.”
Also receiving funding are the YWCA of Prince Albert and STC Urban First Nations Service Inc. in Saskatoon.
In total, over $160,000 in one-time capital funding was handed out.
