REGINA – For the first time this summer West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes in Saskatchewan.
The mosquitoes were discovered in the Sun Country Health Region in southeastern Saskatchewan, where the West Nile risk has been upgraded to moderate.

However, risk levels for the rest of the province remain low, and there have been no reported cases of infection in animals or people.
Last summer four people in Saskatchewan were diagnosed with West Nile.
