The Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) closed the southbound lanes of Sen. Sid Buckwold Bridge after a serious head-on crash on Sunday morning.
An SUV and car collided around 8:30 a.m.
SPS personnel, identified as traffic reconstruction teams by a watch commander, were still at the site several hours later. The mangled wrecks of the vehicles were blocking lanes and debris was strewn across the pavement.
A Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) battalion chief told Global News one of the vehicles was going the wrong way on the bridge.

An SFD press release said fire crews arrived on the scene in less than a minute.
The release also said bystanders had assisted the driver of one vehicle – the only person in the car – and emergency responders began preparing to remove the other driver, who was trapped.
He said the individual suffered serious injuries, but wasn’t aware of the current status of either driver.
Medavie Health Services paramedics took both people to hospital.
Police lifted traffic restrictions around 3 p.m.
