A man was taken into custody early Wednesday morning after a standoff that took most of Tuesday evening, Kingston police say.
The man was arrested just after midnight, according to a tweet from police.
Around 6 p.m. Tuesday night, police asked residents in the 1000 block of Johnson Street to remain in their homes while they dealt with a weapons offence.

Police said Tuesday they believed the suspect was barricaded inside a home with a weapon or a firearm. By 10 p.m., police tweeted that the man was negotiating his surrender.
The stretch of road from Yonge to Mowat was closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic while officers negotiated with the suspect.
