BIG RIVER, Sask. – A Saskatchewan saw mill that shut down seven years ago is almost ready to open again.
Carrier Forest Products Ltd., which purchased the operation in Big River, northeast of Prince Albert, has finished refurbishing the mill.

It’s also hired 15 employees and plans to eventually expand staff to about 90.

About 200 people lost their jobs when the mill closed in 2006.
Production is expected to start in the fall.
