Toronto man charged with murder in Thursday morning Kingscourt incident

A 'serious incident' that left one person injured has led to the arrest of another person in Kingston's north end, police say. Submitted/Mandy Snider

Kingston police have charged a Toronto man with second-degree murder.

Police were called to the area of Fergus and Concession streets at about 9:30 Thursday morning in regards to a weapon’s offence. They say an injured man was found at a Fergus Street residence with injuries as a result of “a violent incident involving a firearm”. He later died of those injuries.

A 20-year-old Toronto man was picked up by police shortly after the incident and brought to Kingston police headquarters where he was charged with second-degree murder.

Witnesses near the scene said they saw at least three police vehicles outside a building that was taped off for the investigation.

The suspect was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
