A Penticton man who police say is a prolific offender is back in custody after he was arrested with a backpack full of guns.
RCMP say Andrew Robert Hardenstine was spotted leaving an apartment building in the 100-block of Roy Ave in Penticton on September 11.
He was carrying a backpack with what appeared to be a gun sticking out of it, draped in a cloth.
Police had been monitoring Hardenstine after his recent release on court imposed conditions.
When police attempted to arrest him, Hardenstine jumped onto a motorcycle parked in a alley and sped off.
He tried to get around an unmarked police car, but instead collided with it and fell of the motorcycle. He was grabbed a police officer but managed to get away.
Police say Hardenstine then ran into a group of other officers and was arrested. One officer suffered a broken wrist in the arrest.

Police seized the following guns from Hardenstine’s backpack: SKS semi automatic assault rifle with a folding stock; loaded 9mm handgun with laser sight and silencer capabilities; plastic bottle containing approximately 100 ml of GHB; 50 shotgun shells, 73 – 9mm rounds, and 10 long gun rifle rounds.
Police searched his apartment, and a 40-year-old woman was taken into custody. A small amount of meththamphetamine and approximately 800 ml of GHB was seized during the search.
Police also confirmed the motorcycle Hardenstine tried to escape on was stolen.
Hardenstine made a court appearance in Penticton today.
