Senior’s death in southwest Edmonton a homicide: EPS

The Edmonton Police Service announced Wednesday the suspicious death of a senior in the southwest neighbourhood of Ramsay Heights last week was a homicide.

Officers found Dagmar Petersen, 85, dead inside a home in the area of Ramsay Crescent and 42 Avenue around 10:15 a.m. on March 5. They had been conducting a welfare check.

The cause of death was blunt force trauma, the medical examiner ruled.

Investigators remained at the scene until Saturday evening. Some nearby areas were cordoned off with police tape, including a pedestrian path between two homes.

Police are also looking for dashcam or doorbell camera footage from the area.
