Hamilton police are investigating the city’s first homicide of 2022.
Police say it happened just before 6 p.m. in the area of Tisdale Street and Erie Avenue, just south of Main Street East and west of Wentworth Street.
Detectives say the body of the male victim, 39, was found on Tisdale with a gunshot wound to the head, although it’s believed he was shot elsewhere.

Det. Sgt. Steve Berezuik said they’re looking for a black or dark BMW four-door sedan that they believe was involved in transporting the victim to the spot where he was found.
That vehicle was last seen travelling east on Main Street.
“I am pleading out to the neighbourhood and people with houses in that area to check their video cameras between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening for this particular BMW or any persons that may not fit the area or appear suspicious,” said Berezuik during a media briefing on Monday.
The man’s identity has not been released while his entire family is notified.
Berezuik said the victim was known to police but it’s not clear why he would be targeted or why he was dumped where he was.
“I don’t know why that location. We don’t know a motive or why this individual would have been targeted and murdered. These are questions that are good questions and ones that we need to work towards answering in the coming days.”
