Man arrested in connection with homicide investigation in Toronto, police say

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide investigation in Toronto, officers say.

In a press release, Toronto police said on Saturday at around 8:14 p.m., officers received report that a man had been located with injuries in the area of Ontario and Shuter streets, near Moss Park.

Officers said the man had suffered injuries from a stabbing.

Police said the man was transported to hospital by paramedics, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Officers have identified the deceased as 58-year-old Abdi Jama of Toronto.
Global News has learned that the victim was living in Seaton House, a downtown men’s shelter until his death.

nvestigators say the victim and the accused did not know other another prior to the stabbing
According to police, on Sunday, 30-year-old Shamar James from Toronto was arrested.

He has been charged with second-degree murder, and was scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.

Police said anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
