Pedestrian dead after being struck by transport truck in Toronto: police

Police say one person is dead after being struck by a transport truck in Toronto.

In a tweet Tuesday, police said officers were called to the Finch Avenue West and Highway 400 area just after 12:30 p.m., after receiving a report that a pedestrian was struck by a transport truck.

A 64-year-old woman was walking along Finch Avenue West, according to police, when she was struck by a tractor trailer driven by a 39-year-old man.

Police told Global News the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene, officers said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and have appealed to the public for information and dashcam footage.
