One dead after crash on Highway 5 near Little Fort, B.C.

BC RCMP said one person has died following a vehicle crash on Highway 5 just north of Barriere.

“Barriere RCMP responded to a head collision between a semi truck and a pickup truck in the 8000 block of Highway 5 in Darfield,” Cpl. Mike Halskov said.

“The driver of the pickup truck was injured and the passenger did not survive.”

The crash happened south of Little Fort just after 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Four ambulances were dispatched to the scene, according to BC Emergency Health Services.

The crash shut down a large portion of Highway 5 for hours, but has since reopened.

BC RCMP’s BC Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation, looking to determine the cause of the crash.
