REGINA – Saskatchewan’s agriculture minister says this year’s crop will be the biggest ever recorded.
Lyle Stewart held a news conference Thursday at his farm just north of Pense where he was finishing up a flax field.

After completing a few laps in his combine, Stewart stopped and talked to local media about the kind of growing season it’s been.
He says it started out looking like a very difficult year, with a late spring and a lot of water.
But he says farmers worked under very difficult circumstances across the province and got the crop in when there was still some snow around.
A cold summer didn’t help much either, though Stewart says it helped the canola yields by keeping the plants from blooming too early.
