One dead following South Surrey residential street shooting

Police have closed down a section of 19 Ave. in Surrey for a shooting investigation. Global News

A man has died following a shooting in a residential area in South Surrey.

Police said the shooting happened around 11 p.m. on Saturday, in the 16000 block of 19 Ave, a residential street.

A 37-year-old died of injuries stemming from an “altercation between parties known to each other”, Surrey police said.

“Several people were detained by police following the incident, and police are working to determine who may have been involved in the shooting,” Surrey RCMP said, in an email.

Investigators shut down 19 Ave. to all traffic between 166 and 167 streets and people were asked to avoid the area on Sunday morning.

Police are also looking for possible dash cam or CCTV footage from the area.
