Durham Regional Police say one person is dead and two others have been taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash in Ajax Friday afternoon.
Police said they were called to the scene at 2:47 p.m. in the area of Taunton Road and Harwood Avenue.
A 69-year-old woman from Oshawa died as a result of the collision, according to police.
Durham police said four vehicles were involved in the crash, where a Mazda 5 struck three stationary vehicles. One of the vehicles involved in the crash flipped over, police added.

Officers said the deceased was driving the Mazda 5.
Ornge air ambulance had been called to the scene but was cancelled.
Durham police’s collision investigation unit is now looking into the incident.
