MONTREAL – Quebec provincial police investigators
Wednesday raided a company’s headquarters in Montreal and a
warehouse in Laval and seized documents pertaining to allegations
against former Quebec family minister Tony Tomassi.
Two items were seized as part of an ongoing
investigation into the allegations against Tomassi, Sgt. Ann Mathieu
said. There were no arrests.
Police declined to name the company involved in the
seizures.
Tomassi was fired May 6 by Premier Jean Charest after
Charest confronted him about reports he used a gasoline credit card
furnished by the Montreal-based security firm Canadian Bureau of
Investigations and Adjustments.
Charest asked provincial police to look into Tomassi’s
use of the credit card.
The seizures Wednesday were carried out by
investigators with Operation Hammer, a police crackdown on fraud and
collusion in the construction industry.
