WINNIPEG — With a three and 14 record heading into their final game of the season, this has been a year to forget for the Blue Bombers and their fans.

A season highlighted by the firing of a general manager, offensive c-oordinator and the club’s CEO and president.

In this mess, one player stood out. Linebacker Henoc Muamba is the Bombers team nominee for Top Canadian, Outstanding Defensive Player and Most Outstanding Player.

“Definitely something I’ll remember for a long time and just looking to build on it,” said Muamba following practice on Wednesday.

But Muamba, who was the first player selected overall in the 2011 Canadian Draft, is set to become a free agent in February if he doesn’t re-sign with the Bombers.

“I can’t even tell you right now,” said Muamba when asked if this Saturday’s game against the Tiger-Cats would be his last as a Blue Bomber.

“I’ve got an agent. I hired him for that specific reason. I trust him and I know that he’s going to do what’s best for me.”

Even though his own future is still to be determined, Bomber head coach Tim Burke believes Muamba will be back and plans on talking to him about why he should return following their last game.

“If you look at your place in the community, where else in the CFL can you be so involved in the community? So recognized in the community, have the endorsements,” said Burke. “There’s only a couple of other places that can even come close to matching Winnipeg.”

Muamba seems to agree.

“I love this city. It’s really welcomed me with open arms since I came here. I love the place that I’m in. I love the people I work with and I love this organization. That’s definitely a plus and a huge thing you know going forward,” Muamba said.

Muamba has so far accounted for one quarterback sack, one interception, 18 special teams tackles and 97 tackles, which is third best in the CFL this season.

Tackle Glenn January was named the Bombers outstanding offensive lineman while linebacker Ian Wild was selected as top rookie and Will Ford outstanding special teams player after returning two kickoffs for touchdowns.
