TORONTO – Ontario Provincial Police said Monday the post-mortem examination of human remains found near where a nurse went missing last week will take place on Tuesday at the office of the chief coroner in Toronto.

"Police investigators do not believe a positive investigation of the body will be made until after the post-mortem is completed," a statement said.

The remains were found Sunday morning in a wooded area in Caledon, Ont.

The discovery came six days after 42-year-old resident from nearby Orangeville, Sonia Varaschin, was reported missing after she failed to turn up for work.

Her blood-stained white Toyota Corolla was discovered later that day in Orangeville. Police later found a trail of blood surrounding her townhouse.

Police said they believe Varaschin was alone at the time she was likely attacked, and was taken from her home in her own car.
