Former U of S Huskie football player charged with drug possession

SASKATOON – Global News has learned that a former member of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies football team was arrested last week on drug charges.

Seamus John Neary, 23, was arrested on Feb. 6 at an apartment in the 1000-block of Temperance Street after police executed a search warrant.

Police seized marijuana and mushrooms and a subsequent search of a rental storage locker turned up more marijuana.

In total, 14 pounds of marijuana was seized.

Neary is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime.

The former linebacker is out on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 18.
