Prince Albert police believe shooting was drug related

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – Police have arrested a 19-year-old man after a shooting that occurred earlier this week in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

On Thursday, police were called to the 400-block of 28th Street East where they found a 21-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

She was taken to Victoria Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe the shooting was not a random act and may have been drug related.

Cameron Morin was arrested in the city on Thursday.

His charges include aggravated assault, intent to wound by discharging a firearm, possession of a restricted firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited from doing so by court order and breach of recognizance.

Morin appeared in Prince Albert provincial court on Friday morning.

Investigators are continuing to follow leads.
