CALGARY – A Calgary man convicted of killing his common-law wife is expected to be sentenced on Thursday.
A judge found Gregory Houle guilty of manslaughter in the death of Cherry Ledesma, who was killed in 2011. Her badly beaten body was found hidden in her home hours after her death.

In the year leading up to Ledesma’s death, police say they were called to the home 37 times.
The Crown is looking to put Houle behind bars for 12 to 15 years.
However, the defence has argued for a six-year sentence.
Houle was originally charged with second-degree murder, but the charge was downgraded prior to his trial.
