George Doodnaught: Key defence witness testifies

TORONTO – An expert anaesthesiologist testified Tuesday during the trial of Dr. George Doodnaught.

Doodnaught, a Toronto anaesthesiologist, faces 21 counts of sexual assault.

The majority of the alleged sexual assaults happened during surgery.

Dr. Alan Robert Aitkenhead, an expert anaesthesiologist and a key witness for the defence, was asked to testify Tuesday.

Dr. Ryan Austin, a former medical student who was in the operating room at the time of one alleged attack, testified Tuesday morning that he didn’t see anything untoward during the surgeries.

In fact, he said, he was talking to Doodnaught about golf throughout the surgery.
