The Quebec and Alberta governments plan to work together to implement artificial intelligence in public administration.
France-Élaine Duranceau, Quebec minister of cybersecurity and digital technology, announced the agreement Tuesday alongside Nate Glubish, Alberta minister of technology and innovation.

The agreement will span five years and includes no financial engagement, but rather a sharing of knowledge between both administrations.
Duranceau says the initiative will build on each province’s expertise to create a more effective state.
Glubish highlighted Alberta’s AI initiatives and presented them as a way to increase speed and reduce costs.
Alberta has leaned into AI and is the centre of Canada’s emerging data centre landscape, according to recent research out of York University.
You can really tell who the idiots in the room are, because they’re always the ones trying to shove AI into everything. We just saw a couple months ago that companies like Uber were having to massively scale back AI usage due to cost. But nope, I am sure the notoriously competent Alberta and Quebec governments will solve the AI scaling problem. I am so very, very sure that this isn’t a complete waste of time.
There is never going to be a government here that we can trust, is there? Stupidest idea on so many levels. What the frig, Smith?!
Two governments, both hostile to Canada, are working together to deploy AI.
I’ve got a bad feeling about this.
I wonder if this will backfire similar to how mandatory bodycams did. Everyone thought it would expose police corruption but instead revealed how uncooperative and violent criminals are. There is potential that this can backfire and expose just how incompetent and self serving our government is. When AI can perform more efficiently and expose blatant corruption weeding though our government, who will the liberals blame then?
Also, the Chiefs that want to criminalize opinions can go straight to hell.
It’s municipal governments that should be replaced with AI. As an example building permits check building plans against a set of building and zoning rules. That could be done in seconds instead of months our city workers take.
It’s great that the Alberta government will use artificial intelligence. Lord knows they don’t have any of the real stuff!
Ah yes, the two provinces that most love to restrict personal rights and freedoms via the notwithstanding cooperating on AI. What could go wrong?
Why? Because you can’t do the job you’re being paid for? We can’t trust AI, so just add that to the gov’t we can’t trust either? We don’t want Data Centre’s!
Why? Because you can’t do the job you’re being paid for? We can’t trust AI to answer simple questions let alone trust the gov’t to be relying on on it! We don’t want Data Centre’s!
Maybe we can get AI to run the country too! Might do much better than the current crooks!
No we didn’t.
See, these Politicians just do what they want, knowing very well of the Majority of Canadian People don’t want anything to do with Artificial Intelligence!!
It’s all for the Wealthy Bas Turds like O’Leary, Carney, Ford, Etc. Etc.
Their plan is to leave people behind in their Game, all the while Pretending they’re doing it all for us.
Oh sure, they’ll make good on a few of their promises to us, but that’s just to fool us at the beginning.
SCOUNDRELS!!
