Officers located the injured man and attempted to disarm him. When that was unsuccessful, they deployed the Taser.
The 51-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.
A review of the use of the Taser will be held.
It’s the second time in less than a week police have used a Taser.
Last Friday, police unsuccessfully tried to Taser a man outside a home on Powe Street. He then stole a police cruiser, leading police on a chase that ended when he crashed into a truck on College Drive.
