Police believe alcohol involved in crash between bike, vehicle

SASKATOON – Saskatoon police believe a bicyclist may have been under the influence of alcohol after a crash between a bike and a vehicle Saturday night. Emergency services were called to Broadway Avenue and 12th Street East shortly after 9 p.m.

Witnesses told police the cyclist was crossing Broadway against a red traffic signal when he was struck by a vehicle travelling on Broadway.

A 52-year-old man was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say alcohol is believed to have been a factor. The cyclist has been charged with failing to obey a red light.

Southbound traffic on Broadway is no longer restricted.
