Saskatoon city council approves power rate hike

SASKATOON – A rate increase is coming for Saskatoon Light & Power customers. SaskPower recently announced a two per cent rate hike effective Sept. 1.

On Wednesday, Saskatoon city council held a special meeting in order to push through the rate increase to stay in sync with SaskPower.

The two per cent increase has an overall positive impact of $171,000 to the City of Saskatoon.

The average residential customer can expect their monthly bill to increase by roughly $1.70.
