Man killed on Sask. First Nation after being hit by a pickup

A man is dead after being hit by a pickup truck on a northern Saskatchewan First Nation. It happened Monday evening on the Big River First Nation.

According to the police report, the driver of the pickup was travelling on an access road near the 793 Grid when the driver came across a man in dark clothing lying on the road.

Mounties said despite the driver attempting to brake and avoid the man, the driver ended up hitting the individual.

The 29-year-old man from the First Nation died at the scene. His name has not been released.

The driver of the pickup was charged under the Traffic Safety Act with operating a motor vehicle with no valid driver’s license.
