Trial for mother accused of killing daughter, 9, to start in 2017

CALGARY – A mother accused of killing her nine-year-old daughter will stand trial in February 2017.

Laura Coward is charged with the first-degree murder of Amber Lucius, whose body was found in an abandoned vehicle near Sundre in 2014. She was ordered to stand trial in September.

Lucius was set to begin Grade 4 in the close-knit town of Millet when she was killed.

The trial is scheduled to last six weeks.

Millet is located about 250 kilometres north of Calgary.
