As far as Labour Day Classics go, Monday night’s tilt between the Ticats and Argos in Hamilton wasn’t the best, but at least the good guys won.
Finally!
The windy and rainy conditions got the better of the two arch rivals, and their fans, for most of the first half.
And that included a two-hour, eight-minute long lightning delay at Tim Hortons Field that, at the time, seemed fitting for what has been a horrible CFL season in Steeltown.
June Jones’ first game as head coach of the Cats was, I’m sure, a learning experience for him.

It’s one thing to watch the game from the sidelines, it’s an entirely different animal when you’re the man tasked with making the final call.
We saw an example of that with some horrible time management at the end of the first half.

Even though Hamilton beat Toronto 24-22, I’m still not a fan of the Jeremiah Masoli as the starting quarterback experiment.
I get it. Starting Masoli over Zach Collaros, who has lost his last 12 starts, was a decision that was aimed to wake up a slumping offence.
But I still think the Ticats are better with Collaros under centre.
Lastly, I hope Monday night’s late night at Tim Hortons Field will encourage the CFL to move the Ticats-Argos Labour Day clash back to the more sensible 1:00 p.m. start time.
